Welcoming Leqin Yan, MLS, PhD as Lead Science Advisor

Dr. Yan is a board‑certified Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP) with more than two decades of experience spanning neuroscience research, molecular biology, clinical pathology, and laboratory management. She currently serves as Laboratory Manager for the Michale E. Keeling Center for Comparative Medicine and Research Clinical Pathology & Diagnostics Laboratory at MD Anderson Cancer Center, where she directs high‑complexity laboratory operations, oversees method validation under GLP and FDA guidelines, develops SOPs, and provides data interpretation and scientific guidance for clinicians and researchers.

Her academic background is equally distinguished. Dr. Yan earned her PhD in Physiology from the School of Medicine at Zhejiang University, following earlier graduate training in physiology and medicine. Her postdoctoral work at the National Institutes of Health (NICHD) and the University of Connecticut Health Center focused on molecular neurobiology and neuronal development, including the generation and analysis of knockout mouse models. Her research has resulted in multiple peer‑reviewed publications, including work published in Nature‑affiliated journals, Molecular Psychiatry, Cerebral Cortex, PLOS ONE, and BMC Cancer.

In addition to her research career, Dr. Yan has extensive experience in hospital‑based and reference laboratory environments. She has worked as a Medical Laboratory Scientist and General Supervisor within major academic medical centers, performing and overseeing hematology, chemistry, serology, coagulation, urinalysis, and microbiology testing while ensuring quality, compliance, and patient safety.
